4 Best Free TwitterShots Alternatives (2026): Tweet to Image Tools

TwitterShots is a good tool, and its free tweet to PNG converter exports clean images at up to 4K with no watermark. The limit is quantity: the free tool allows 10 conversions a month, and unlimited screenshots, thread images and PDFs sit behind Pro at $6.99 a month. If you make tweet images every week, you hit that cap fast.

These four tools turn a tweet link into an image for free. We checked each one on its own website in October 2026, and where a site does not say something, we say so instead of guessing. Plans change, so check the tool's site before you rely on a detail. One disclosure: Mockship is our product, and it is first on the list.

1. Mockship

Best for a tweet with a background that matches your brand. Paste an X post link into the tweet to image tool and the real post is rebuilt as a clean card: author, avatar, text and attached images. Pick a light or dark card, set its width and scale, and drop it on a gradient, mesh or photo backdrop. PNG and JPEG export at HD is free with no watermark and no account, with no monthly limit. Pro adds 4K and 6K and WebP, but you do not need it for a single post card. Mockship also has a separate Bluesky post to image tool that works the same way.

2. PostSpark

Best for designed, branded assets. PostSpark is a full screenshot editor: backgrounds, browser frames, text, arrows and blur, plus device mockups, X and Bluesky post layouts and code snippet images. It exports PNG, JPG or MP4, and has Chrome, Firefox and VS Code extensions. Its Pro plan unlocks video mockups and animations. Its site does not say whether free exports carry a watermark, so make one test export before you commit to it.

3. TweetPik

Best if you already use Tweet Hunter. TweetPik was one of the first tools for clean tweet screenshots, and it is now part of Tweet Hunter: its old address redirects there. The basic tweet capture is still free. Because it lives inside a larger social media product, it makes most sense when you already write and schedule posts in Tweet Hunter.

4. 10015 Tools

Best for quick layout choices. The 10015 Tweet to Image Converter is free and offers wide, compact and square layouts, with light and dark themes and backgrounds behind the tweet. It never adds a watermark by default; there is an option to add your own.

When TwitterShots is still the right tool

If you work with whole threads, TwitterShots is hard to beat. Pro splits a thread into images or saves it as a PDF, Pro+ captures up to 30 tweets at once, and every paid plan includes API credits for automated screenshots. If you only need a few images a month, its free tool is fine too. The alternatives above win when you make tweet images often and do not want a monthly cap.

Why a Twitter screenshot looks worse than a rebuilt card

When you screenshot Twitter, you capture whatever was on your screen: a strip of the app around the post, buttons, a reply count, and text at whatever size your display happened to use. A tweet screenshot made that way softens the moment it is cropped or scaled. Tools like these work differently. They fetch the post from its link and draw it fresh, so the text is crisp and nothing from the app sneaks in.

Saving a tweet as a PNG (or JPEG)

To save a tweet as an image, any of these tools works. Mockship and PostSpark export a twitter tweet PNG or a JPEG, and TwitterShots' free tool does tweet to PNG at up to 4K within its monthly limit. JPEG gives a smaller file for email; PNG keeps text edges perfectly sharp. The tweet to PNG guide covers the settings that keep text crisp.

Putting a tweet on a background

A tweet with a background reads as something designed rather than something grabbed. Mockship goes furthest here: it can frame a tweet on gradients, meshes and photo backdrops, add a soft shadow, and suggest backdrops built from your own colours. PostSpark and 10015 Tools also put backgrounds behind the card.

How to print a tweet so it stays sharp

To print a tweet without it looking soft, aim for about 300 pixels per inch. A 6 × 4 inch print needs roughly 1800 × 1200 pixels, and a larger print needs more. Mockship's free HD export on the 1600 × 900 X canvas suits a small print; for anything bigger, use its 4K or 6K export on Pro. Print tweet images on matte paper if the card is light, since gloss shows every reflection on a white background.

Where to use an image of a tweet

  • Instagram

A tweet photo performs best at 4:5 or 1:1. Mockship has square canvas presets, and 10015 Tools has a square layout.

  • LinkedIn

A wide card on a calm backdrop works in the feed. Keep the post short enough to read without opening the image.

  • Slides and talks

Export at the largest size you have, because slides are shown big. A dark card on a light slide reads well from the back of a room.

  • Newsletters and blog posts

An image of a tweet keeps a quote readable even after the post is deleted. For a tweet with an image attached, use a tool that rebuilds the media too, as Mockship does.

More free options

  • Screenshot Studio

Free and open source with no signup, no watermark and no paid tier. Its X post editor takes a link and downloads a clean light or dark image.

  • ConvertICO

Free with no login. Exports PNG, JPG or WebP at up to 3×, with light, dim and dark themes and Instagram and story sizes.

  • Stashr

A simple tweet screenshot generator: light or dark, PNG, no watermark and no signup, rendered in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Mockship exports tweet images at HD for free with no watermark and no account, and 10015 Tools never adds a watermark unless you choose to add your own. PostSpark and TweetPik do not say on their sites whether free exports carry a watermark, so try an export first.

Partly. Its free tweet-to-PNG tool gives you 10 conversions a month with no watermark, at up to 4K. Unlimited screenshots, thread images and PDFs need Pro at $6.99 a month, or about $5.83 a month billed annually.

Mockship has a separate Bluesky post to image tool alongside its tweet tool, and PostSpark has Bluesky post layouts as well as X.

They are built for single posts. For a thread, TwitterShots Pro can split a thread into images or save it as a PDF, and Thread Reader App unrolls a thread into one readable page.

TweetPik is now part of Tweet Hunter, and its address redirects there. The basic tweet capture is still offered for free, so it suits people who already use Tweet Hunter.
